Embers Yard

A very, very long time ago I went to a Tapas restaurant called Embers Yard, it was so long ago that it was even pretty sunny that day and I feel pretty bad about leaving it this long. I just want to say first off that you should take what I say on here with a pinch of salt as I don’t think I gave it the best chance. We went a bit too early to get the proper tapas so instead we had the bar food, which to be honest was the side of the menu I preferred, if I could be bothered I would go back to try the other side and give Embers Yard a fair try…but I can’t.

Embers Yard is located a couple streets down from Soho Square off Tottenham Court Road and its really nice inside, there were a lot of staff, we got asked three times if we had been seen while the first lady went off to look at the reservations while all but one big table were free. We easily got lemonades for drinks and then placed our order for the bar food choices.

We got two smoked chorizo skewers with saffron alioli they were soooooo tasty really smoky and deep in flavour and went so well with the alioli which I was dipping everything in.

We also went for the Italian Charcuterie which had Wild boar, finocchiona and capocollo all very tasty. The boar got a bit much towards the end and I had to eat it with other things but the whole meat board was such a novelty, I hardly ever get salami etc but I absolutely love them.

We also got the Grilled flatbread with honey, thyme and smoked butter. Loved the thyme and smoked butter but I didn’t get any honey and I actually prefer the flatbreads I make at home using this recipe from Sunday Brunch they are a bit lighter and softer and again the flatbread got a bit too much towards the end.

Lastly we went for the Iberico Pork fat chips with chorizo ketchup. They came with a lot of seasoning and the chorizo ketchup was a big let down because you actually couldn’t taste any chorizo it was just a healthy tomato ketchup. The chips themselves were nice and fat and crispy but they again got a bit too much towards the end, they were actually calmed down by the alioli and I’m not sure that’s right…

Thinking back on it all the food was lovely separately but a bit too much together, I don’t know whether we made some bad choices and if the proper kitchen menu had items that would have balanced it out but it hasn’t hooked me in to go back and find out.

Anyone else been to Embers Yard and had a better experience?

Second Run!

It was hot! I have not been that sweaty in a long time. I was on the treadmill and I made myself do 0.2 faster on all the speeds than last time so at the moment I am doing;

Time (mins)
Speed km/hour
5
10
5
9.6
5
9.2
5
8.8

And yes I do know it’s a little sad to write it up in Excel but it’s so easy! And I actually looked at the distance my treadmill said I had done and it reckoned 3km pretty much exactly but check out the screen shots below. I don’t think they are made for treadmills but Map my Run is doing the best.

I’m trying to decide what my next challenge on the treadmill should be I think I might try and do 10 minutes at 10, I think that would also help me more when I do a proper run in the great outdoors.

I also want to say thank you to this guy, you totally got my through, thank you, thank you!

How have your runs been going, set yourselves any good challenges?

What I Wore… 28th May 2014

So looking for shoes that will actually keep my feet dry, unlike my New Look boots which completely bit the dust yesterday, I came across my Pull and Bear wedge trainers and they have been great! I’m wearing them with my Asos blue jeans, my H&M geometric vest with a H&M basic black vest underneath. I also have my COS navy jacket to put on in the office so don’t worry I won’t be sitting around in a vest all day.

For hair and makeup I twisted my ponytail into a bun, put on gel eyeliner and Show off Topshop lipstick.

Any one else get soggy socks yesterday?

What I Wore… 24th May 2014

Shopping Trip!! We have a holiday coming up in two weeks! Finally! We booked it way in advance so now we have been counting down the months and it’s finally here so we went on a shopping trip to get supplies. I wanted soft shorts, a beach cover up and lots of sun tan cream and he wanted flip flops and swimming trunks and I did much better! I still haven’t found a kaftan I like so I’m going to be internet shopping a lot in the next few days, Jigsaw has a lovely one but it’s so expensive I’m not going there.

For easy changing I wore my H&M leggings, basic grey vest from H&M, my old red jumper from Topshop and my New Look boots.

For hair I plaited a front section and pinned back.

What I Wore… 23rd May 2014

Dress Down Friday!!!! I went with comfy, comfy H&M leggings my Zara dark green tee with leather cap sleeves and my boyfriend’s denim shirt, I do have one of my own but it’s never with me when I fancy a denim shirt day. Also on were the trusty New Look brown suede boots.

I love wearing leggings on Friday because Friday is filing day and when I wear jeans I have to pull them back up whenever I bend down to file something away, so frustrating!!!

What I Wore … 22nd May 2014

I got told I looked sort of summery yesterday so I though I would throw summer in their face today with my new River Island dress from Asos, my blue Zara jacket, skin coloured tights from M&S and my New Look suede boots. I have been wanting a colourful dress for ages, when I look through my wardrobe all my dresses are all quite plain so this is a welcome change. I totally braved it and went with skin coloured tights very proud of myself, first bareish leg day of the year!!

For hair and makeup I did a slightly 50s look and did a low twist with two front sections of hair and then pinned them at the back of my head, I used gel eyeliner from Rimmel and Beguiled Topshop lipstick. I’m really liking daubing on my lipstick you can gradually build up the intensity of the colour and it ends up with a much more matt look.

What I Wore… 21st May 2014

Sunny, sunny, sunny and I totally remembered my sunglasses today!! I’m in patterned trousers from Forever 21, a black tee from COS and my H&M flats. I also had on by blue Zara jacket but I didn’t need it and my sunglasses were in the half price sale at Boots last year, all sunglasses were half price!! I was there for ages!! I have never tried on soooo many sunglasses and I’m pretty sure they have one each year.

I have on Rio Rio Topshop lipstick and mascara today and have brushed my hair! I also did a conditioning treatment on it with Pantene 2 Minute Colour Protect as the swimming is really drying it out.
